WHERE IT ALL STARTED

The Shred is an indoor skatepark based in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town.  Owners Marc Baker and Jamie O'Brien have been skating and building ramps for over 20 years.  Jamie has dedicated his life to skateboarding and is involved in many aspects from producing skateboard videos to owning Dope Industries clothing, Woodies Ramps, Got Skills Agency and also works for Sole Technology the holding company for etnies, Emerica, eS and Altamont.

Besides being a classic car collector and owner of building companies, Metritech and Timber Mills, Marc has gained much experience through working with California Skateparks over the past 5 years at events such as the X Games, Vans US Open, Dew Tour, Street League and many more, making these two guys the perfect candidates to open an indoor park.

Their vision is to have a safe place for parents to leave their kids and a park that is constantly evolving to avoid boredom.  At present the park is mostly built out of wood, however some concrete obstacles are planned for the near future.  Besides the skatepark, The Shred also has a skateshop and coffee shop that serves Deluxe Coffee and light meals.  The Shred is a great venue and it is available to hire for events and birthday parties, we also offer skate lessons and internships, for more info please drop us a call or a mail.
